Fried Rice With Pork (Or Chicken)

Fried rice with pork called Khao Pat Moo in the Thai language, or Khao Pat Gai for Chicken fried rice. In a most annoying stereotype almost every Thai restaurant will assume you, being a foreigner, will only eat Fried Rice and will tell you your order is Khao Pat xxx. Very annoying when you want to eat something a little more tasty, even more annoying when your foreign friends look about nervously and say "No, no, I'll just have the fried rice" (just to be safe)....

I mean you would not want to go to a new country, or even live in that country for 10+ years and never eat the local cuisine because of fear. Fear of eating something too spicy, fear of getting a stomach bug, fear of getting a plate of food that you did not like the taste of. Imagine that. Living in fear of a plate of rice.... retarded.

So anyway here is the recipe for fried rice that you can mishandle anyway you wish at home and try and scare your friends and family with...

Ingredients:

150 grams Pork Mince (or Minced Chicken) (1/3 lb)
5 Eggs (1 yolk and egg whites)
Pumpkin (optional)
Tomato (optional)
Cabbage
Snake Beans
Cucumber (served on the side)
Garlic
Hot Chillies (optional)
Pork (or Chicken) stock powder
Soy Sauce
Fish Sauce (Optional)
Tomato Sauce (Ketchup - Optional - for "American Style" Fried Rice)
Boiled Rice

The vegetables are all optional, use what you have at hand

Preparation:

Heat pan place a 1/2 cup of water in the pan and then add the minced pork. Break up the minced pork and stir around to allow the water to cover and cook the pork through (instead of frying it in oil).

Add garlic and chillies. Cut up your vegetables, add them to the pan (not the cucumber).

Break your eggs into a bowl and scramble them. Use eggs or egg white powder, use whole eggs if you are 'bulking'.

Add a sprinkle of stock powder to the pan, turn the heat up a little and steam off the excess water. Then pour your eggs into the pan and stir through until cooked.

Add quiet a bit of Soy Sauce to the mix and a splash of water. Now add either a dash of fish sauce or add your ketchup (tomato sauce) if you so wish.

Add boiled rice into the pan, break it up and stir through. Add more sauces if required.

Makes 2 meal servings, a bit light on protein but add another 50g of meat to fix that.
