Traditional Australian BBQ food - the "steak sanga". Easy and enjoyable, an often overlooked option in the bodybuilders low fat performance food diet.
Now this is not an extremely low fat meal but it is quality fats that will help you grow. Red meat is beneficial like no other meat, get a lean cut like topside or round (in Australia), these cuts have no extra fat on them at all and are in fact leaner than chicken breast. So the only added fat is the extra virgin olive oil and the egg yolk - which I also believe is good for your muscle building.
Ingredients: Onion Beef Steak 200-300 grams (1/2 lb) Eggs Lettuce Tomato Rye or Wholemeal Bread Ketchup (Tomato Sauce)
Preparation: Heat the pan, put oil in. Dice the onion then put it in the already hot pan. Continually stir the onions until they go brown. Take them out and put aside on a plate.
Fry a couple of eggs in the oil in the pan. When almost cooked through flip the egg, to cook it right through, leave it a little runny in the yolk if you so desire. When cooked take out and put aside with the onion. Add a little more oil to the pan, add the steak. Cook it quickly on one side - called "searing", this locks the juices inside the steak - turn the steak over and let it cook, flipping it once if needed. Place the onions back into the pan (optional) and allow them to cook through. Cut the steak in half and put on bread with an egg, lettuce and onion, add tomato sauce (ketchup) and there you go. Quick, tasty and an Aussis staple food.
